AIL

Information about AIL

Founded in 1966 by the Automotive Equipment Group and based in Nazareth Illit, AIL has steadily solidified its reputation as a leading assembly plant for both cars and trucks. Originally kicking off with work on early derivatives of the iconic Willys MB, AIL has significantly broadened its scope over the years, especially with the introduction of models like the M462 trucks and the AIL Storm series.

So, what sets AIL apart? Well, for starters, they’re not just any assembly line. Their expertise extends to creating unique Jeep Wrangler derivatives, like the AIL Storm (Sufa) series and the AIL Desert Raider. Having commenced production in 1987, the AIL Storm and its current version, the Storm III, are still in production today, showcasing the brand’s commitment to quality and long-lasting design.

Over the years, AIL has also been instrumental for the Israel Defense Forces, serving as an assembly point for Humvees. However, due to U.S. foreign aid policies, these contracts have been transferred to plants in the United States. Nevertheless, AIL continues to innovate, launching the Storm III in August 2008.

When it comes to models, AIL has an expansive range. For tactical vehicles, you have the AIL M325 and M462 ABIR. Meanwhile, their current production includes not only the aforementioned Storm models but also the AIL Desert Raider that’s been in production since 1998.

And let’s not overlook their armored vehicles. For those seeking extra protection, AIL offers the Antelope—a light multipurpose armored vehicle mounted on a RAM 550 truck chassis. They also have the Avner, an armored AIL-built body also based on a RAM 550 truck chassis.

Having been in the industry for more than five decades, AIL has transitioned from an assembly plant to a vehicle manufacturer of repute. From former production models like the Willys MB and AIL Abir to more recent offerings like the AIL M325 Command Car, their portfolio is both extensive and impressive.

All in all, AIL serves as a remarkable example of how adaptability and a focus on quality can drive success in the automotive industry. Whether it’s a tactical vehicle or an armored car, AIL’s range offers something for every kind of driver.
