Ascort

Information about Ascort

The Ascort was a distinctive car made by Continental Coachwork in Sydney, Australia, between 1958 and 1960. It featured a unique four-seat coupé body on a modified Volkswagen chassis, and its design set it apart from the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupé it was based on. The car, known as the Ascort-TSV-1300 G.T., was crafted with a fibreglass body and powered by a 1.3-litre Volkswagen flat-4 engine, enhanced to produce 54 bhp. Despite its performance capabilities, with only 19 built and plans for a more powerful engine variant never realized, the Ascort remains a rare footnote in automotive history.
