Auburn Automobile, heralded from Auburn, Indiana, was founded in 1900 by the Eckhart brothers. They launched a brand that would become emblematic of early American automotive excellence, with the original touring car featuring a modest 10 horsepower engine. Auburn’s legacy peaked in the 1930s with the illustrious Auburn Speedster, an emblem of luxury and performance. Despite innovative design and engineering, the brand couldn’t weather the economic storm of the Great Depression, ceasing car production in 1937. The company’s spirit endures at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, once its headquarters, now a shrine to its automotive contributions.
