Giannini Automobili, an iconic name in the Italian automotive tuning scene, was founded in 1920 by the brothers Attilio and Domenico Giannini in Rome, Italy. Originally a small garage, the company quickly evolved into a notable enterprise renowned for modifying and enhancing Fiat vehicles. In the early days, their inventive prowess was demonstrated through the development of groundbreaking engines like the G2 750, which became a hallmark in racing circles.

Throughout the decades, Giannini made a significant mark on motor sports, particularly in the 1960s through the 1980s, with their vehicles routinely appearing on Italian racecourses. Despite intense competition, notably from Abarth, Giannini managed to secure a unique place in the racing community, bolstering their reputation with a series of successful modified cars, such as the 500 TV Montecarlo and the 590 GT Vallelunga.

However, the 1980s posed substantial challenges for Giannini due to escalating costs and a changing automotive market that saw manufacturers producing their own performance models. The death of key leader Volfango Polverelli in 1984 marked a pivotal moment, prompting a shift away from manufacturing to focus more on personalizing vehicles with luxurious finishes and bespoke features.

Today, Giannini remains engaged with Fiat, focusing primarily on after-sales services and the creation of special vehicles for Italian governmental agencies. While they no longer produce cars, their legacy in Italian automotive tuning and racing is firmly cemented, continuing to influence the industry and maintain their esteemed status in the pantheon of automotive history​
