GreenWheel EV, officially known as Shenzhen Greenwheel Electric Vehicle Group Co., Ltd., is a trailblazer in China’s electric vehicle industry, focusing on both electric buses and neighborhood electric vehicles. Established on January 1, 2000, by Liu Churui in Guangdong, China, the company initially struggled to introduce a Chinese version of the Renault Zoe in 2012. However, GreenWheel EV later found its niche in producing neighborhood electric vehicles, leading to significant growth over the years.
In May 2017, the company made a pivotal stride by securing approval to build a 50,000 unit plant in Mingcheng Industrial Park, marking a $267 million investment that signified its readiness to upscale production. This development allowed GreenWheel to transition from solely producing neighborhood electric vehicles to also manufacturing highway-capable vehicles, significantly broadening its market reach.
Today, GreenWheel EV stands out as a significant player in the electric vehicle market, not just within China but on an international scale. The company’s evolution from small-scale electric vehicles to major automotive innovations mirrors the broader growth trends in the global electric vehicle industry, marking it as a key entity in the ongoing shift towards sustainable transportation solutions.
