The Mazda MX-5 (NC) is the third generation of the popular Mazda MX-5 line, produced from 2005 to 2015. Notably, the NC model won the Car of the Year Japan Award upon its release in 2005 and consistently made Car and Driver’s 10Best list from 2006 to 2013. An attractive feature of the NC is its retractable hardtop variant, making it the first MX-5th Gen to offer this option. The hardtop roof can fold or deploy in just 12 seconds, all without reducing trunk space.

From 2006 to 2008, the NC1 version of the MX-5 showcased exterior styling by Yasushi Nakamuta, featuring a design not sharing components with the previous NB model, except for specific elements like fender-mounted turn signal lights in some non-U.S. models and rear differential internals. The chief designer for this generation was Moray Callum.
