The Mercedes-Benz CLS is a line of executive cars introduced in October 2004 and produced until August 2023. Initially named the CLS-Class, the original model was presented as a four-door sedan with a sleek coupé design. Subsequently, the series expanded to include an estate (shooting brake) variant with the second generation of the CLS. Each model in the range offers a high-performance AMG version, and 4MATIC all-wheel drive was introduced in the second generation.
Positioned in the Mercedes-Benz lineup between the E-Class and the S-Class, the CLS models are known for their stylish design, blending elements of a classic sedan with coupé aesthetics. However, these cars are generally considered less practical than the E-Class due to their emphasis on luxury and performance over utility.
Competing in the fastback sedan segment, the CLS faces rival models such as the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, Porsche Panamera, and Audi A7. The focus of the CLS range is on delivering a premium driving experience with refined performance, distinctive design, and advanced features. With its combination of elegance, power, and technology, the Mercedes-Benz CLS appeals to drivers seeking a balance of luxury and sportiness in their executive vehicle.
