The Mors automobile factory, a beacon of early French automotive innovation, was established by Émile Mors in the late 19th century. Initially recognized for its electrical engineering prowess, Mors swiftly pivoted to automobiles, distinguishing itself by embracing the V-engine configuration and actively participating in the burgeoning sport of automobile racing from 1897. This strategic move not only highlighted the technical capabilities of Mors automobiles but also served as a vital promotional platform.

The Mors marque was renowned for its involvement in high-stakes races, such as the Paris-Berlin race, which were pivotal in demonstrating the durability and speed of its vehicles. Mors was among the first to incorporate technologies like magneto ignition, pneumatic shock absorbers, and chain-driven transmissions, which were revolutionary at the time. These technical advancements propelled Mors to the forefront of automotive design during the early 1900s.

However, the outbreak of World War I and subsequent economic challenges forced Mors to cease operations. The brand experienced a brief resurgence during World War II through the production of electric cars by a subsidiary, yet this was short-lived. Eventually, the Mors facilities were absorbed by Citroën in 1925, marking the end of Mors as an independent entity.

Today, Mors is remembered for its pioneering contributions to the automotive industry and its brief but significant impact on early motor racing. The legacy of Mors, characterized by innovation and competition, remains a noteworthy chapter in the annals of automotive history.
