Tornado Cars Ltd., established in 1957 by Bill Woodhouse and Tony Bullen in Rickmansworth, England, was a distinguished name in British motoring. The brand’s initial foray was the Typhoon Sports, a model available with a custom chassis for various engines, producing about 400 units until 1962. The venture expanded with the sophisticated Talisman 2+2 coupe in 1962, admired for its performance and quality, though only 186 were made before financial woes led to the company’s closure in 1964. Despite this, the Talisman V8, developed under new ownership and based on a Daimler SP250 chassis, was notable for winning the Rallye de la Route just two weeks post-completion, showcasing Tornado’s engineering prowess. Today, the brand is remembered for its innovation and the rare surviving models cherished by collectors.
