The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck produced by Toyota in the United States since May 1999. It was the first full-size pickup from a Japanese manufacturer to be manufactured in North America, specifically at a Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana, which later consolidated production to San Antonio, Texas in 2008. The Tundra was the second full-size pickup from a Japanese manufacturer, following the Toyota T100.
The Tundra received accolades such as a nomination for the North American Truck of the Year award and being named Motor Trend magazine’s Truck of the Year in both 2000 and 2008. The first generation Tundra (XK30/XK40; 1999) shared similarities with the older Toyota T100 and the compact Toyota Tacoma.
