The Toyota Yaris is a popular supermini/subcompact car produced by Toyota since 1999. The Yaris was introduced to replace the Starlet and Tercel models. Initially, the Yaris name was used for export versions of various Japanese-market models, while some markets received the same vehicles under the Toyota Echo name until 2005. In 2020, the Yaris nameplate began to be used in Japan, replacing the Vitz nameplate.
The Yaris nameplate has also been applied to other vehicles. In Europe, from 1999 to 2005, the Yaris Verso, a mini MPV, was sold under the Yaris nameplate, known as the FunCargo in Japan.
