The Vauxhall Cavalier was a popular large family car sold by Vauxhall primarily in the United Kingdom from 1975 to 1995. Based on Opel designs throughout its production, the Cavalier went through three generations during its manufacturing life span.

First Generation: The first generation of the Vauxhall Cavalier was introduced in 1975 and produced until 1981. It was essentially a Vauxhall version of the General Motors ‘U-Car,’ sharing similarities with the Opel Ascona B/Opel Manta with minor visual differences.

Second Generation: Launched in 1981 and produced until 1988, the second generation of the Cavalier was unveiled simultaneously with the updated Opel Ascona, both based on the GM “J-Body platform.” This generation was sold globally under various guises.

Third Generation: The third and final generation of the Vauxhall Cavalier was introduced in 1988 and remained in production until 1995. It was based on the first generation Opel Vectra and shared the same production duration.
