Founded by Fred Drasner and David Schembri, the Vehicle Production Group (VPG) introduced an intriguing venture into the automotive industry with the MV-1 in 2011. This original model, designed primarily for accessibility, featured a unique selling point: it was the first vehicle purpose-built for wheelchair users. It boasted a robust design with a built-in ramp and was engineered to meet or exceed the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Despite the initial acclaim and a clear niche, VPG faced significant challenges. The company struggled financially, leading to its cessation of production in 2013. However, the MV-1’s legacy continues under new management by AM General, which resumed its production due to ongoing demand.
