The Volkswagen Gol, manufactured by Volkswagen do Brasil since 1980, serves as the company’s entry-level subcompact car in the Latin American market. It succeeded the iconic Volkswagen Type 1 (Fusca) and Volkswagen Brasilia. The Gol line includes variants like the Voyage and Parati, which were marketed as the Volkswagen Fox in North America from 1987 to 1993.

The Gol series features a range of body styles, including three- and five-door hatchbacks, two- and four-door sedans (Voyage), three- and five-door station wagons (Parati), and two-door single and extra-cab coupé utilities (Saveiro). This diversity catered to various consumer preferences across different markets.

Notably, the Gol has achieved significant success in the region. It held the title of the best-selling car in Brazil for an impressive 27 consecutive years from 1987 to 2014. Similarly, it has been the top-selling car in Argentina since 1988, highlighting its popularity and acceptance in South America. Over five million Gol units have been produced in the region since its inception in 1980, emphasizing its long-standing presence and market dominance.

In March 2013, it was announced that the cumulative production of Gol and its derivatives had crossed the milestone of 10 million units, underscoring the widespread adoption and enduring appeal of the Gol series in the Latin American market. This remarkable production milestone further solidified the Gol’s position
