Genesis has unveiled the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible concepts, sparking a mix of awe and critical observation. While the Coupe impresses with its sleek design, the Convertible’s rear seating arrangement leaves room for debate.
The X Gran Coupe, in particular, evokes the luxurious spirit of the Maybach Xenatec Coupe, showcasing Genesis’s ambition to redefine high-end automotive design. The front fascia, adorned with the brand’s signature Two-Line headlights and a bold grille, sets a striking tone. Interiors inspired by Mediterranean olives and fine wines further elevate the sense of opulence.
However, the X Gran Convertible’s side profile, especially the rear seating, disrupts its otherwise elegant lines. The rear seats appear almost as an afterthought, contrasting sharply with the Coupe’s sportscar-like cabin. This design choice raises questions about the vehicle’s overall aesthetic balance.
Despite the Convertible’s design quirks, these concepts signal Genesis’s intent to blend high-performance with luxurious design. The brand’s foray into motorsports, highlighted by the GMR-001 Hypercar, reinforces this ambition. Genesis is clearly aiming to make a bold statement, even if some aspects of their new concepts leave us with mixed feelings.
