The Adler Diplomat was a significant six-cylinder luxury car introduced in March 1934 by Frankfurt-based auto manufacturer, Adler. Designed to directly succeed the Standard 6 model, it also indirectly replaced Adler's Standard 8 following its discontinuation without a direct successor in 1934. The decision to abandon the "Standard" nomenclature was influenced by its perceived mundane connotations in both German and English, deemed incongruent with the advancing automotive technology and the era's growing optimism post the economic aftermath of the 1929 crash. With economic growth returning to the German auto market and the economy at large, Adler sought to position the Diplomat as a symbol of progress and advancement.
