From 2012, Alpina revised the B7 with an uprated twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 producing 540 hp and 730 Nm, a 33 hp and 30 Nm increase over the earlier cars, and replaced the prior automatic unit with Alpina's own Switch-Tronic transmission with paddle-shift capability. The long-wheelbase rear-wheel-drive body returned a 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds despite the added length, a notable improvement relative to the equivalent early car. This variant continued in production through 2020, spanning the bulk of the generation's lifespan.
