The 428i Steptronic Gran Coupé uses BMW's 2.0-litre TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 245 hp and 350 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The 0-100 km/h time of 6.0 seconds is competitive for a liftback in this class, and the 428i badge was used during the pre-facelift production run before the engine family was rebadged as the 430i after 2017.
