Offered from the F12 generation's early years through 2015, the 640d xDrive Steptronic Cabriolet combines the 313 hp, 630 Nm turbodiesel inline-six with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system for added traction in open-top form. The xDrive hardware adds a marginal 0.1 second to the 0 to 100 km/h run compared to the rear-wheel-drive diesel variant, reaching the benchmark in 5.4 seconds. This combination of all-weather capability and diesel efficiency distinguished it from the petrol Cabriolet alternatives in the lineup.
