Buick LeSabre 5th Gen

1977 – 1985 · USA

The Buick LeSabre was a full-size car produced by Buick, a division of General Motors, from 1959 to 2005. It took over the position held by the Buick Special from 1936 to 1958. The name "LeSabre" translates to "the sabre" in French and was positioned as a mid-level full-size sedan above the Special but below the Electra in the 1960s. The LeSabre continued in this role after the Electra was replaced by the Park Avenue. Available in various body styles, including 2-door convertible, sedan, hardtop, 4-door sedan, hardtop, and station wagon, the LeSabre provided a range of options to customers throughout its production run. The car was known for its classic and timeless design, with key design elements inspired by aircraft, such as the wrap-around windshield and tail fins. The LeSabre nameplate made its debut on the 1951 Le Sabre show car, showcasing innovative design features that set the tone for future Buick models. The car's legacy as a comfortable, spacious, and reliable full-size vehicle helped to solidify its place in the market for several decades. In summary, the Buick LeSabre was a well-regarded full-size car known for its classic design, respectable performance, and comfortable ride. Its various body styles and long production history made it a versatile option for consumers seeking a reliable and stylish vehicle.
