The Impala 3rd Gen Turbo Hydra-Matic is a 1966 sedan variant producing 390 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, routed through General Motors' Turbo Hydra-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. The Turbo Hydra-Matic was introduced by GM in 1964 and offered improved performance and durability over the older Powerglide unit, making it a preferred pairing for higher-output V8 applications. The combination of strong torque output and the automatic transmission gives this variant a character suited to effortless high-speed performance.
