The eighth generation of the Chevrolet Suburban and its derivatives, based on the GMT400 platform, were launched in December 1991 for the 1992 model year. This generation was an update from the previous version, with the C/K pickup transitioning to the newer platform in 1987. The C/K pickup shifted to the new platform for the 1988 model year.
