Chevrolet Suburban Series 4

1967 – 1972

The eighth generation of the Chevrolet Suburban, based on the GMT400 platform, was launched in December 1991 for the 1992 model year. This generation was closely related to the C/K pickup series which had transitioned to the newer platform in 1987. The Suburban and its derivatives were available in both 2WD and 4WD versions, identified as "C" and "K" respectively. The lineup included half-ton and three-quarter-ton models designated as "1500" and "2500" respectively. A significant aspect of this generation of the Suburban was the use of the small-block 5.7-liter V8 engine as the standard powertrain across all variants. This engine provided a good balance of power and efficiency for the Suburban models. For the heavier 2500 series, an optional big-block 7.4-liter V8 engine was offered, providing extra power and torque for those requiring enhanced towing or hauling capabilities. Key Points: 1. Eighth generation Chevrolet Suburban based on GMT400 platform introduced in December 1991. 2. Derived from the C/K pickup series which transitioned to the new platform earlier. 3. Available in 2WD and 4WD configurations labeled as "C" and "K". 4. Offered in half-ton and three-quarter-ton models as "1500" and "2500" respectively. 5. Standard engine for all variants was the small-block 5.7-liter V8. 6
