Chrysler Valiant VG

1970 – 1971

The Chrysler Valiant VG was produced for the Australian market from 1970 to 1971, slotting into the long-running Valiant lineage between the VF and VH generations as part of Chrysler Australia's steady progression toward a more locally distinct product. The VG is particularly notable for introducing the Pacer and Rallye trim variants, which brought a sportier character to the range, and the generation offered a choice of inline-six and V8 engines carried over and refined from earlier Australian Valiant development.Bodywork continued the refined coupe and sedan forms that had become familiar across the series, and the VG represented a consolidation of the mechanical and styling direction Chrysler Australia had been building toward through the VE and VF generations. It remains a recognized point in the nameplate's history among Australian classic car enthusiasts, in part because of its performance-oriented variants and its position just ahead of the more extensively developed VH series.
