Rebadged Renault 12, built under licence in Romania. The Dacia 1310 is a Romanian rear-wheel-drive compact saloon produced from 1979 to 2004, making it one of the longest-running single nameplates in European automotive history. Developed as an evolution of the earlier Dacia 1300, which was itself derived from the Renault 12, the 1310 brought modernized styling and incremental mechanical updates to a platform that remained in continuous production for a quarter century. The model spanned two generations, with a second generation running from 1993 to 1998 introducing further refinements, while the first generation architecture underpinned the full production run through 2004. Notable variants included estate and saloon bodystyles, and the 1310 became widely known across Romania and export markets as a durable, affordable workhorse that kept much of its Renault-derived engineering throughout its life.
