Daihatsu Naked

2000 – 2004 · Japan

The Daihatsu Naked was a unique kei car produced by Daihatsu, a Japanese automaker, from 1999 to 2004. Unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1997, this compact vehicle featured distinctive styling elements like ridges in the doors and exposed hinges and bolts that gave it a rugged appearance. It was equipped with a 658 cc petrol engine, offering drivers the choice between front-wheel or four-wheel drive configurations to suit their driving needs. The design of the Naked was ahead of its time, incorporating off-road vehicle aesthetics into a city car. This innovative approach paved the way for similar design trends seen in later models like the Rover Streetwise, Citroën C3 XTR, and Volkswagen Cross
