The flat-plane crank V8 shared between Ferrari and Maserati, growing from 4.3 to 4.5 litres over its life. In the 458 Speciale it revved to 9,000rpm and made 605hp, and it was the last naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari built for a mid-engined car.
