Turbochargers mounted inside the V, a layout that became the industry template.
AMG's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, with both turbochargers sitting inside the vee. The hot-vee layout shortens the intake and exhaust paths and shrinks the whole package, and most rivals have since copied it. It powers the 63-badged range as the M177, and the AMG GT as the dry-sumped M178.
