Excalibur Series IV

1980 – 1986

The Excalibur Series IV is an American neo-classic automobile produced by Excalibur Automobile Corporation from 1980 to 1986, continuing the company's tradition of building luxury roadsters and phaetons styled after the 1930s Mercedes-Benz SSK. The Series IV represented a refinement of the earlier Series III, featuring updated mechanicals sourced from General Motors, including V8 engines and Corvette-derived running gear, paired with coachbuilt bodywork constructed in small volumes. The model was offered in both roadster and phaeton body styles, catering to buyers seeking a handcrafted, retro-styled grand tourer at a significant price premium over mainstream alternatives. The Series IV is noted for its period-correct wire wheels, sweeping fenders, and side-mounted spare tire, details that defined the visual identity of the Excalibur brand throughout its production history.
