Ferrari 125 S

1947 – 1947

The Ferrari 125 S is a two-seat open sports racing car produced in 1947, widely recognized as the first automobile built by Ferrari under its own name. Powered by a 1.5-liter supercharged V12 engine, it marked Enzo Ferrari's transition from racing team manager to manufacturer and established the V12 configuration that would define Ferrari's engineering identity for decades. The car achieved its first victory at the Rome Grand Prix in May 1947, driven by Franco Cortese, a result that gave the nascent marque immediate competitive credibility. Only two examples of the 125 S were constructed, and the cars were subsequently rebuilt and evolved into the 159 S and later the 166 S as Ferrari developed its early competition machinery.
