The Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder is an open-top grand touring sports car produced by Ferrari from 1957 to 1963, built on the 250 GT platform and intended primarily for the American market. It was offered in two distinct forms: the long-wheelbase version produced from 1957 to 1960, and the more refined short-wheelbase version introduced in 1960, which used a lighter body with covered headlights and alloy panels to reduce weight. Power came from Ferrari's celebrated Colombo-designed 3.0-litre V12 engine, and coachwork was handled by Scaglietti to designs by Pininfarina. The California Spyder is now widely regarded as one of the most desirable Ferraris ever built, with surviving examples consistently achieving record prices at auction.
