The Honda Inspire is a mid-size sedan that originated from the Honda Accord chassis. Initially introduced in late 1989 as the Accord Inspire, it shared the platform with the Honda Vigor and was marketed through different retail channels in Japan, known as Honda Verno and Honda Clio stores. In 1995, the Inspire underwent updates and was exported to the US as the Acura 3.2 TL, while the Honda Saber replaced the Vigor nameplate. The cars retained the longitudinal 2.5L straight-five engine layout, with a similar platform sold as the Acura 2.5 TL. By 1999, the first-generation Inspire/Acura TL models were phased out and replaced by the second-generation TL, which was based on the US-spec Accord platform.
