The Izh 2125 "Kombi" is a small family car that was manufactured by the Soviet/Russian car company IZh from 1973 to 1997. Known as the first liftback of Russian/Soviet origin, it was based on a modified version of the Moskvitch 412 from Izhevsk. The initial prototype of the car was introduced in 1966, designed as a compact family vehicle. Despite being dubbed as the first Soviet hatchback, the Izh 2125 "Kombi" actually featured a station wagon body style with its unique "D" pillar support that did not contribute to weight reduction. This aspect positioned the model more in the liftback category, rather than a true hatch
