Keinath Automobilbau, founded by Horst Keinath in Reutlingen, Germany, carved its niche in the automotive world with a specialty in convertible variants. Initially, the company ventured into modifying existing models, producing a convertible version of the Opel Monza and later the Vauxhall Cavalier Mark 2 during the 1980s. This innovative approach set the stage for what would become a hallmark of the brand—transforming conventional models into stylish convertibles. By the mid-1990s, Keinath took a significant leap by introducing its original model, the GTR. This model showcased a convertible-coupe body with a retractable hard roof, a design that cleverly combined the appeal of both coupe and convertible styles. The GTR was equipped with a variety of Opel engines, and by 2000, it featured a robust 5.7-liter V8 engine similar to that used in the Chevrolet Corvette, emphasizing the brand's commitment to performance. In the early 2000s, Keinath aimed to expand its product line with the GT/C, a sports car available both as a coupé and a convertible. This model was powered by a 3.2-liter V6 engine, capable of reaching speeds up to 250 km/h. Although Keinath's ventures into creating exclusive and original designs demonstrated the brand's engineering capabilities and design innovation, its niche focus remained a defining element of its identity in the automotive landscape.
