This South Korean automotive powerhouse initially made waves in the industry by assembling Jeeps for the US Army during the Korean War. Renamed SsangYong in 1986, the company was known for its robust off-road capabilities and luxury sedans. In 1991, SsangYong cemented a significant technology partnership with Daimler-Benz, leading to the development of the Musso SUV, which marked its entry into the UK market in 1994. This partnership helped SsangYong leverage Mercedes-Benz technology, furthering its reputation for durable and capable vehicles. Fast forward to recent years, the brand underwent a major transformation, rebranding as KGM Automotive in 2022 following its acquisition by the KG Group.
