The Marlborough car brand, an Anglo-French venture, has a fascinating history that epitomizes early 20th-century automotive innovation. Established in 1906, Marlborough cars were initially manufactured by Malicet et Blin in France, known for their reliable engines, gearboxes, and chassis. These vehicles primarily graced the British market until 1926. A significant figure in the brand's history, T.B. André, took over the dealership in 1909. Under his stewardship, Marlborough introduced a new range of larger cars equipped with engines ranging from 2210 cc to 3617 cc. These models were marked by their advanced engineering, including magneto ignition and cone clutches driving three-speed gearboxes. Post-World War I, the production shifted increasingly to Britain, introducing models with more British components, including a light car in 1921 equipped with a British Anzani engine. However, the marque struggled to maintain its footing in the competitive automotive industry of the time. By 1924, André shifted his focus to the Marlborough-Thomas cars, signaling the brand's gradual decline until its eventual closure in 1926.
