Mazda 2 DL

2014 – 2024 · Japan

The Mazda2 is a subcompact/supermini car produced by Mazda since 2002, currently in its third generation. Positioned as an entry-level model for markets outside Japan below the Mazda3, it was formerly known as Mazda Demio in Japan until 2019. Its predecessor, the Mazda 121, was exported under that name. The second-generation Mazda2 won the 2008 World Car of the Year award, while the third generation was named the 2014–2015 Japanese Car of the Year. In North America, the third-generation model was rebadged and sold as the Scion iA, Toyota Yaris, Yaris iA, and Yaris R. Furthermore, a petrol-hybrid variant based on the Toyota Yaris Hybrid was introduced in Europe in 2022 under the Mazda2 nameplate alongside the petrol-powered third-generation Mazda2. This eco-friendly model caters to the increasing demand for hybrid vehicles in the region. Overall, the Mazda2 has garnered critical acclaim and commercial success for its compact design, efficient performance, and affordable pricing. Its ability to adapt to various markets by partnering with other automotive brands demonstrates Mazda's flexibility and strategic approach to meeting diverse consumer needs. The Mazda2 continues to be a popular choice for urban drivers and those seeking a practical and reliable subcompact car.
