Mazda CX4 GK

2016 – 2024 · Japan

The Mazda CX-9 is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured by Mazda in Japan since 2006, with three-row seating making it Mazda's largest passenger vehicle until the introduction of the CX-90. Despite being produced in Japan at Mazda's Ujina #1 plant in Hiroshima Prefecture, the CX-9 was not available in the Japanese domestic market, with the CX-8 being offered instead due to its smaller size. The first generation of the CX-9, coded as TB and released in 2006, initially featured a 3.5 L Ford V6 engine. However, in 2008, Mazda upgraded the engine to a more powerful 3.7 L unit producing 204 kW (274 hp) and 366 N⋅m (270 lb⋅ft) of torque. This enhanced engine was introduced in June 2007 and produced by Mazda themselves, marking a significant milestone in the vehicle's development.
