The Mazda MX-5 (NC) is the third generation of the popular sports car manufactured by Mazda from 2005 to 2015. Upon its debut in 2005, it was awarded the prestigious Car of the Year Japan Award and was featured on Car and Driver's 10Best list from 2006 to 2013. Notably, the NC was the first MX-5th Gen to introduce a retractable hardtop variant, providing the convenience of a folding roof that could be operated in just 12 seconds without compromising trunk space. During the initial years of production from 2006 to 2008 (NC1), the MX-5 NC showcased exterior styling designed by Yasushi Nakamuta. It incorporated no shared components with its predecessor, the NB, except for the fender-mounted turn signal lights on non-U.S. models and rear differential internals.
