MG Motor is an Anglo-Chinese automotive brand under the ownership of the state-owned carmaker SAIC Motor, with its headquarters in Shanghai. The brand traces its roots back to the original MG marque, a well-known British automotive brand established in Oxford, UK in 1924. SAIC Motor took control of the brand in 2007 after acquiring Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC), which had obtained the brand from the now-defunct MG Rover Group in 2005. Today, MG operates as a division under SAIC's passenger vehicle branch. The vehicles under MG's brand are designed and developed by SAIC, with manufacturing predominantly taking place at SAIC's production facilities in China. This collaboration between Chinese ownership and British heritage has enabled MG to continue its legacy and expand its presence in the global automotive market. Key points: 1.
