The MG5 is a series of compact cars produced by SAIC Motor under the MG brand since 2012. The first generation was launched in China on 28 March 2012 and shared its platform with the Roewe 350 saloon car. In China, the hatchback version was named MG5 while the sedan was marketed as the MG GT; however, in some markets, the sedan was also sold as the MG5. The second generation of the MG5 is marketed as such in China and Thailand, and as the MG5 GT or MG GT in other regions. Interestingly, the first-generation sedan model was sold as the MG5 in some markets as well. Outside of China and Thailand, the MG5 branding is used for a different model, which is the global version of the Roewe i5. This means that in certain international markets, the MG5 badge represents a vehicle that is distinct from the original MG5 models sold in China and Thailand. Key Points: 1.
