Minari Engineering Ltd., a former British automaker founded in 1990 by Andrew Borrowman and Sean Prendergast in Staffordshire, specialized in kit cars with a strong focus on utilizing Alfa Romeo components. Their inaugural vehicle, the Mk1 Club Sport, was notable for its unique adaptation of Alfa Romeo Alfasud parts, integrating them into a distinctive monocoque design. Despite the niche appeal, only 13 Mk1s were produced, primarily due to the challenges of self-assembly and the limited availability of suitable donor cars. The evolution of Minari's design was apparent with the introduction of the Mk2 Road Sport, which offered improved access and an optional hardtop, distinguishing it from its predecessor. However, despite these enhancements, Minari Engineering ceased operations around the year 2000. Their assets, including designs and tooling, changed hands multiple times, reflecting a turbulent period of ownership that culminated with a cessation of production following the death of a key figure in 2017. Minari's journey from innovative kit car designs to its ultimate dissolution mirrors the volatile nature of small-scale automotive manufacturing.
