The development of the range began with the unveiling of the Mini hatch concept car at the 1997 Frankfurt International Motor Show when the Mini brand was still part of the Rover Group owned by BMW. The Mini range served as a modern successor to the original Mini, featuring a design that paid homage to the iconic styling of the classic Mini. The styling of the concept car was well-received, leading BMW to further develop the design and launch the new Mini range in 2001, after the sale of the Rover Group and the discontinuation of the classic Mini. Over the years, the Mini brand under BMW's ownership expanded its offerings by introducing larger models like the Clubman in 2007, the Countryman in 2010, the Paceman in 2012, and the Aceman in 2024. These models retained the retro-inspired design elements and driving dynamics that have become synonymous with the Mini brand.
