The Nissan Vanette is a versatile cabover van and pickup truck that was produced by Japanese automaker Nissan from 1978 to 2011. Initially designed for private ownership, the first two generations of the Vanette were created by Nissan's Aichi Manufacturing Division. Subsequent generations were manufactured by Mazda, rebadged as Nissans, and marketed as commercial vehicles, drawing inspiration from the Mazda Bongo platform. The Vanette has been alternatively known as the Nissan Sunny-Vanette or Nissan Van. In 1991, the private ownership role was taken over by the Nissan Serena, while the Vanette was rebranded and tailored for business applications in various global markets.
