Opel Astra G

1998 – 2009 · GERMANY

The Opel Astra is a compact car/small family car (C-segment) manufactured by German automaker Opel since 1991, now in its sixth generation. It was introduced in September 1991 as the successor to the Opel Kadett, positioning itself between the Corsa supermini and the Insignia large family car within Opel’s lineup. Originally available in hatchback, saloon, and estate (station wagon) versions, the Astra quickly expanded its lineup to include a panel van (sedan delivery) and a convertible in the early 1990s. The estate model was first called the Astra Caravan and later renamed the Sports Tourer. Through its various generations, the Opel Astra has been known for its practicality, efficient engines, and comfortable ride, making it a popular choice for small families and individuals looking for a reliable everyday car. It has also consistently offered a range of safety and technology features, evolving to meet the changing demands of the market over the years. The car has gone through multiple iterations and updates since its introduction, incorporating design changes, technological advancements, and improved performance to stay competitive in the small family car segment. The Opel Astra has managed to maintain its relevance by adapting to consumer preferences and industry trends while retaining its core characteristics of affordability, reliability, and versatility.
