Pontiac Grand AM 4th Gen

1992 – 1998 · USA

The Pontiac Grand Am is a versatile car model that was manufactured by Pontiac from 1973 to 2005. It underwent multiple transformations over its production years. Initially, the Grand Am was a rear-wheel-drive mid-size vehicle built on the LeMans GM A platform during its first two generations. It served as an alternative to the declining muscle car segment, aiming to position itself as an American answer to European luxury sports sedans. The Grand Am was conceived as the successor to the GTO platform but adapted to meet the changing automotive landscape. The name "Grand Am" itself holds significance, combining elements from other Pontiac models. "Grand" symbolizes the luxury associated with the Grand Prix model, while "Am" signifies the performance heritage of the Trans Am model. In later generations, the Grand Am transitioned into a front-wheel-drive compact (and later mid-size) car to align with market trends and consumer preferences. Key Points: 1.
