The Renault Fuego, a sport hatchback named 'Fire' in Spanish, was introduced as a replacement for the Renault 15 and 17 coupés in the 1970s. Produced and marketed by Renault from 1980 to 1986, the Fuego sold a total of 265,367 units, with the majority being manufactured in France between February 1980 and October 1985. In the United States, it was distributed by American Motors Corporation (AMC), and production continued in South America until 1992.
