Smart is a German automotive brand that was founded in 1994 and is recognized for its emphasis on producing microcars and subcompacts. In 2019, a joint venture was formed between Mercedes-Benz AG and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group to establish Smart Automobile Co., Ltd. with the goal of manufacturing Smart-branded vehicles in China for global distribution. The headquarters of this venture is located in Ningbo. The company initially gained popularity for its production of compact vehicles such as the Fortwo and Forfour models.
