Subaru Alcyone XT

1985 – 1991 · Japan

The Subaru Alcyone SVX, also known as the Subaru SVX outside Japan, was a luxury and performance-oriented two-door coupé produced and sold by Subaru from 1991 to 1996. It marked Subaru's foray into the premium market segment, boasting distinctive design elements such as a unique 'window-within-a-window' side-glass configuration. The term "Alcyone" is derived from the brightest star in the Pleiades constellation, reflecting in the Subaru logo, while "SVX" stands for "Subaru Vehicle X." Designed by renowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign, the Alcyone SVX made its initial appearance as a concept car at the 1989 Tokyo Auto Show before transitioning into a production model.
