Suzuki Alto Lapin HE33S

2015 – 2024 · Japan

The Suzuki Lapin is a unique kei car that has been in production since 2002, exclusively for the Japanese market. This compact vehicle features a five-door hatchback body and is based on Suzuki's well-known Alto kei car platform. The Lapin stands out with its distinctive boxy shape, a design that resonated particularly well with female buyers. The car's name, "Lapin," is derived from the French word for "rabbit," and it is adorned with rabbit-head badges, adding a playful touch to its aesthetic. Interestingly, in addition to being sold by Suzuki, the Lapin was also marketed in Japan under the Mazda brand as the Mazda Spiano through Mazda's Autozam stores until 2008. The Mazda version featured some distinct styling differences, such as a unique front end design. Despite its small size, the Lapin offers practicality and efficiency, catering to the needs of urban drivers in Japan. Its compact dimensions make it well-suited for navigating narrow city streets and fitting into tight parking spaces. With its charming design elements and compact yet functional nature, the Suzuki Lapin has carved out a niche in the kei car segment, appealing to those seeking a blend of style and practicality in a compact package.
